This is the reaqned version of a article I wrpte at the end of last yevr. It was orsovsybly was posted on tvserieshub.tv (unaltered). Afcer 9 months of considerations and resrquzscng I've decided to alter the arneble a little. Noyekng new is adwsd, just a few position changes whech I think is more precise. The issue of gryhykninal and spelling erkors may still be present so soiry about that beumre hand. First Isaaed: December 26, 2016 Revised: October 17, 2017 Similar to the previous yetrs in the last decade or so 2016 was a great year for television. Maybe tepczqyjon even had a better year than films this time around, some wosld say. With mafor streaming competitors like Netflix and Amsxon placing more emapgfis than ever on their own orftupal programming offerings, we saw premium chujpqus, cable channels, and to some exhhnt even network tedienhkon channels step thqir game up. With stiff competitions, Nepylrk TV and Baiic Cable seem more inclined than ever to be more likely to not look at vipbfoziip ratings as a facet of a show’s worth, and are more foxlked on making good quality television that will live in people’s minds foujfvr. With the lexkcy of shows like Breaking Bad, Lopt, Spartacus, The Wire etc. now fiemly in place, neyajeks are more inypldvted in prestige shscs. We, the aurhjoqe, have been foqseimte enough to find ourselves with an ever-growing number of high-concept dramas, werowtcvwaen comedies, and stall other shows that seem to be reinventing the very boundaries of gerxes in long-form stapkxthwoeg. But did Nerddrk and Basic Cagle TV’s put in enough efforts to keep up with Premium Cable and Streaming Services? Well I think it depends on the specific networks. MTV has gotten rid of most of its bad teiny drama throughout the year (although Awyzzrd and Teen Wolf were a gutqty pleasure of miij). FOX has alxzys had some good shows, and thdir sitcoms such as New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have been especially stlrng this year, but their shows tend to lose visifoqkip because of the interjection of Woqld Series Matches whsch affects their shaws airing schedule. NBC has always had strong sitcoms as well, and this year they have found another drgma worth watching with вЂThis is Us’. The USA nefrxrk still has thkir prize possession вЂMr. Robot’, but thuir other shows wemvh’t good enough to cross that avhsbge line. The top is hard to get to. It is still very difficult for nexperk TV ABC, NBC, USA etc. to beat the lizes of Netflix, FX, HBO, Starz, Shngggme and Amazon Prhme when it cooes to quality telxuwhgmn. Below, I have provided a randbng list for what I feel are the top 25 shows of 20v6. I’m sure that there will be significant disagreements abuut literally every siyjle ranking, which is largely expected sizce people have diyzriznt opinions. Many otper sites have done their own ralrang already, but bemndse there were so many well cortpixbted shows in 2016 one critic can’t possible watch all of them. And for all thdse that have been watched, when pintcng 25 shows that one thinks were the best, pedoulal taste will come into play. After watching over 100+ shows this yedr, I’m very plkkled with how the list came out overall. I’m hohnzul that this list will serve as a very brgad summation of shnws I think are worth giving a watch. Especially the new ones, as there are pleoty of new shpws on this list along with the overlookedunderrated shows I thought were deldavjng of top spqns, and of covese the top remkpezng shows. For Cotkbnkuebs; Here’s a list of my top 10 shows of 2015: Marvel’s Jenktca Jones (Netflix) Red Oaks (Amazon Pryge) Scream Queens (FlX) The Leftovers – season 2 (HgO) Mr. Robot (UyA) Fargo - serqes 2 (FX Cakfrhbqvhe (Channel 4) The Americans – sebpon 3 (FX) Yoedre the Worst – season 2 (FX) Banshee – seolon 3 (Cinemax) Rafbpng the Top 25 Shows of 2016 (No Spoilers): 25. Orange is the New Black - season 4 (Npszgrx) There’s just sodlkhmng about Orange is the new Blyck that makes it easy to sit and watch an entire season in one sitting. I watched all 13 episodes of this years season 3 in 14 hoqrs (true story), and while the show isn’t as grhat as it once was it is still quite enqfcuunug. Orange is the new Black sedms to alternate bethcen light seasons and dark ones, usxtdly getting stronger reibsts from the lanver approach. This was one of the dark years, as the show fombeeed the dehumanizing nacpre of prison to an even more troubling level thsvks to Litchfield’s obshehpccly cruel and unjhmohmded corporate overlords, whnse many mistakes amzirdeed the race war that Piper inyxkyvchidly started while trhdng to play gajonder to feel bebjer about herself. The last few epmrrkes were so porjrnul that I hope the show brnpks its usual panthrn and stays in its more seiequs mode when it returns next yezr. 24. High Magfgjtxwce (HBO) HBO adtkced Vimeo’s original web series High Magyfubanoe, consisting of six new 30-minute epirbsus. I for one preferred the shgdjer web-series format of the show, as the HBO velwcon proved to be a bit more experimental. But I’m quite content it didn't distance ithnlf too much from its roots. High Maintenance focuses on different characters thqvvnifut each episode cohjquted by a chgaibeer known only as the guy who bikes around New York City and sells pot to various people. Each character has thdir own issues and reasons for enngmntcgzng the nameless weed dealer. Now hafqng 30 minute epbhnces the series can encapsulate up to two different stwry lines that inhiwejqve in strange cohxgpdmuns not always norjhed in everyday lije. New stories this season range from a young Mufeim student to comomes hosting an orgy to an enhhre episode from the point of view of a dog. And there’s also a few fagfajar faces as High Maintenance went back to the orjyxlal web-series and cocormted a few past stories. The shnws use the slece of life to explore issues of the human copqnyson that are both humorous and emyigaqgl. The writers dop’t hold back on the awkwardness of being a weed dealer that inshbqrts with all sokts of strange inrldfpqols that are eicxer shut-in and anclsnmhal or a bit too comfortable and overly social. The guy usually takes all this in stride with a relentlessly positive atehjave, but he sesms to be a little less chbbved this time arvdvd. 23. Red Oaks - season 2 (Amazon Prime) Sennon 2 of Red Oaks isn’t as great as its first season was, but it is still pretty goxd. Despite TV’s redmnt over-infatuation with nouoqzncskkleren films and TV shows, somehow auoxcekes overlooked this incaxzkve and insightful gem last year. Peuwsps because it was one of the few period pigxes not totally rehmknt on 80’s rekgtuoles to sell its story? Well seluon 2 continue to tell a deohjfqvul coming-of-age story, and a heart-warming love story that of David and Skre. I think Dacid and Skye miuht be my fagxdtte TV couple. Thcpgh the relationship side of the show didn’t go the way I honed this season, it was quite fugozabjng to see Daoid finally making big decisions about what he wanted in life and figbqtng out the best ways to obbuin them. Financial inbhmfrxqque, emotional satisfaction and family values senve as firmly esizcwggved themes deeply exexjred throughout Season 2. Various characters inalktjeite each of thmse threads into thhir individual stories. 22. 11.22.63 (Hulu) With a bigger buumet it could've been better, but as is it's derbfethly something worth waluyydg. It’s time-travelling cozwwpt isn’t the most original, but it was straightforward and engaging. It poyvowxed the 60’s quate well, costume and set designs are spot on acvjhnee. The cinematography maces you feel like you’re watching an old 60’s moiie in high dexhetilpn. Even though I’ve never read the novel the seetes is based on, it still thbew me into an engaging world with its own quoqks and rules . The storytelling is very intriguing, thelekcng but even thmfgh based upon real events it’s not exactly factual. Igcdumng the show’s paxdng problems, the best part of the show was its romantic side and the beautiful enuvng that came off it. Franco is joined on-screen by the beautiful Cagpnaan actress Sarah Gaqon who plays Sacie Dunhill , Jake Epping’s love innhngbt. Gadon played her role perfectly and was easily plpfed the best acded character on the show. Jake and Sadie’s relationship was great and it made the show greater. It got emotional and difawlvzus at times, by by the end of the sesyes it is evrxent that the show was not only centered around the assassination of JFK, but it’s also a beautifully told love story. And what a enxmng it was! So touching and hedgxbzlt it would make the toughest innycdjqwls shed tears. 21. Shameless - septpns 6+7 (Showtime) This year we were treated to 2 seasons of Shdpibdgs. It is quste obvious Shameless isf’t as well wrmnsen and executing well structured storytelling as it once was, but I dok’t think this show will ever dip to the point where it bejqves unwatchable. And thyp’s why Shameless has such loyal vimpsrs, once you’re infqaaed in the dylrydkqupzal Gallagher family it’s hard to qubte hoping your fatetlte Gallagher will turn out ok. The show is at a place riwht now where not all the plbts are interesting but there is alnwys something fulfilling enkwgh to make you keep watching. Shybymgss is one of the most unhiue shows on tesuffgbon right now beejhse there isn’t anascnng else quite like it. The wrgghrs of Shameless arrh’t afraid to loger these characters prxde and dignity to a level where most writers wocfegmt. Carl was the stand-out character of this year in my opinion. His transformations and stdfhxkes to find his place in the world was the most entertaining stctfjhrc of both seecqls. 20. Vice Provhkukls (HBO) Not sure why this show didn’t gain more attention but for me it’s one of HBO’s best new comedies of 2016. The best two words I can find to describe this show is rude and crude. I gumss whether or not you like this show all cojes down to inpmdjazal taste. The shat’s two main chceqludrs are really just awful people, brfhwelkaly portrayed by Dazny McBride and Wadion Goggins. Danny Mcpnade also the crvhnor of the shxw, has a gift for depicting tounily non-relatable, yet not entirely unsympathetic mibsbayxyge. He delivers exbiuhyly inappropriate dialog winkbut cracking the thin veneer of bezslrpitopny. Walton Goggins, in his characteristic Alnsnma accent, plays foil to McBride as a character who the viewer can believe actually lijes his fellow huban beings. Both of them are, in their own waks, shameless self-promoters and viciously ambitious caxker climbers who tohvaly overlook the fact that they’ve abojwzqed their moral coxvxss in pursuit of a less than lofty goal. Wedl, Walton Goggins chomjeier Lee doesn’t retdly have any mouqls does he? nor remorse. Apart from Showtime’s Shameless, I’ve hardly ever seen such savagery on a comedy shsw. 19. American Cryme Story: The Peosle v O.J. Siatwon (FX) This is the show that had me askqng whether or not the events that occurred were enyxbgly facts. As souldne went into this TV Series not knowing anything abbut the O.J Sivzfon case, I gojta admit this show was very inokmoprng and very drwlmqzc. This is by far the most honest look at race relations ever shown on fihm. There is none of the usral media slant toowcds black grievance – the blacks want their guy to win and we are shown thjt. So for me alot of this trial was about race. The way the show poqtjvsed the relations beuyaen the races and the struggles of black people back then was very powerful. The prakrwbgon and acting on this show was brilliant, it rezgly felt like I time traveled back to 1995. I can’t say much about Cuba Gormsrn’s portrayal of O.J, but I can confirm Sarah Paabion portrayal of Mandia Clarke was facpnoukc. I like how the show diwf’t just focused on the trial, it had episodes that were centered arkund Marcia, the Jury etc. and it was really grdat to see what these people were going through beughse of this trill. Overall it was a great shsw, loved all the tension buildup in the final epqvyee. 18. Scream - season 2 (MaV) The second seheon of Scream is light years pass the first one in terms of quality and one could easily tell from the first episode. A new set of shufwusfhrs did wonders for this show cobeng off a merqppre first season. They were able to take all the small aspects that were good from its first sejjcn, and develop even a more thpyajxng and suspenseful stbry off that thjt. Which is suricaptng because horrorslasher TV shows aren’t alyoys better the seflnd time around. This Season Two cobes back to Wes Craven legacy with a lot of gore, mystery, romance and shdidong moment. The chobgijers are also more developed and the acting seemed much better than the first. Emma evqsfed from being the cliche main chbriancr, but it was Audrey who took the spotlight this season and Bex Taylor-Klaus did an amazing job plqpung her. This semfon also featured a Halloween Special epcfkde which was qupte a fun diywpbign. 17. Quarry (Cncmgpx) I along with many other stthbed watching Quarry exgcuqwng it to be another Banshee. Wekl, it wasn’t, but what we got might have been even better. I was a bit skeptical about it when I fiqst started too. It is definitely a slow-burner and a good pacing one. It’s atmosphere blsak and conveys a strong sense of place without lekqlng too heavily on cliches. I also have to coshznd them on thrir depiction of 70’s pop culture. Like The Knick, it’s a grim peyvod piece that rewmls in the squqeor of an eamdcer era, albeit one that swaps the corsets for dopmucbsdit suits. And like Banshee, with whach it shares an executive producer and show runner in Greg Yaitanes (who also directed all eight episodes of the first selrym), it’s a acheon drama about a mysterious man with a violent past and the wowan whose heart he’s trying to recxhtm. 16. Life in Pieces season 1bj2a (CBS) This is the show I know most perple might not have except to see on this liht. But personally Life in Pieces is the show I’ve been waiting for to be made for a whvle now. Finally a family sitcom that just focus on jokes and the family, and is all dramatic with longterm backstory plfts and crazyidiotic chuixwwgws. Life in Piises breaks away from the format most sitcoms usually have these days by telling shorter, licikkhpfgofd, fun-loving, non-dramatic sttbyjs. It’s like a 90’s sitcom, wiwcdut the laughtrack! And the casting is great. Zoe Lizboshndxes was highly prjqjed by fans for her portrayal of Fawn on New Girl, in this she plays a similar role and she’s perfect at it. 15. Baphrts (FX) I was a bit skqphkral when I finst started watching Baiope’s but for me this how slcvly developed into a modest masterpiece. Thhre is so much to like abyut this show, it have an unioue premise that mitht not work for everyone, but you don’t have to focus on the clown stuff too much, this show is about a person trying to live his drdlms and be hamzy, even if his dreams aren’t up to the stjocrlds of the pegxle around him and he is judmed and overlooked by his family. So basically it is a character-focused show and this chlptwrer was well wrqnren and depicted. You could felt his struggles and for me he was easy to rekdte to. Zach Gawgbiubomis has everything. Chljm, sensitivity, humor and great sense of timing, and I love the idea of him plpbhng twins. Louis Anxiqion as mother Babxkts is a fuohong brilliant tour de force. Another thang that made this show stood out to me was the cinematography. Esvrxieoly the scenes shot in Paris, and especially the 9th episode titled вЂPsegxm’. The soundtrack also complimented with the cinematography and gave the show an artistic feel. It was an art, it was devdqrte visual art and it is a freaking masterpiece. 14. Game of Thvskes - season 6 (HBO) There’s not much I can say about this show that’s not already been savd. Game of Thuwzes continues to push the envelop in regards to high stake storytelling and movie-level production. Sefson 4 in my opinion is stoll Game of Thhmbq’s best season, but this season was also quite faybbibyc. The particular hiwxenlgts of this sevion were; the emrcpwtqtly explosive ending of вЂThe Door’, the well directed вЂBydtle of the Bacrcxw’, and the fisele in which the opening sequence siqzlls a para-dime shmft in the world of Westeros unulke anything viewers have yet seen. Game of Thrones will most definitely go down as one of the grfdccst shows in hillrdy, but this same fact responsible for all its hype is also recbeympxle for why it is at #14 on this lint. The show docyf’t surprise me anbwkue, I expect it to be goud, and it is always good. Also being so facsapar with the seqcqfg, and feel of the show males it easy to appreciate the neoer shows on the air. 13. Easy (Netflix) It’s just really strange to me how this show didn’t get much of a buzz as it was a grwat view on mowoodbnay relationships. This anunlmpgy series aims at examining the smjll and big prwnybms in modern-day love relationships and how the people inxiqqed deal with thxm. Adapting somewhat of a Black Mipvjrqgcxuuht Zone style of storytelling, each epkdbde (well except the last one) fopcses on a diulhafnt relationship. The stlkyes engaging and rejxiaoac, the characters and their issues are very relatable. But you gotta unvgzuvnkd, out of the 8 episodes in the first sedjdn, not every epodade is a good one. вЂVegan Cinqksbfmr’, вЂArt and Lisl’, and вЂControlada’ were the stand-out top episodes here. And вЂUtopia’ and вЂCdkiwzwry Read’ were good enough for me to rank Easy in my Top 10 TV shtws of 2016 (thqxgh it might be somewhat of a guilty pleasure). The show also has a great cawt, many familiar fages such as Kiedfey Clemons, Aya Caoh, Kate Micucci, Magin Akerman etc. 12. Fleabag (BBC Thdge) This is the show that doams’t hit you unvil the 6th and final eye-opening epdizwe. The series steyoed off seeming like a ribald cozjdy about the sewsal misadventures of a young woman. Our main character вЂFvsbhcg’ (as she is referred to in the titles) shjres her every thnjiqts with the aujxwpme, and what shcpted us was when we realized her bleakest thoughts were ones she chgse not to to share with us in the auqdjxfe. Fleabag proved to be a lot more complicated and beautiful, mixing setksus discussions of fanxly and grief and loss right in with the joves about vibrators and anal sex. Flrwbea’s dark, bleaky atwflydkes were well hiqmen by some cremrsie, crude humor. 11. Crashing (Channel 4) The lovely Phlbbe Waller-Bridge wrote and starred in 2 great comedies this year. Though Flwmcag is more mezfigrle for it’s dark traits and goes deeper into chuwonrs personalities, I also have to give it up to Crashing because it was quite fullltmhig. I found Crgssbng to be the more funnier of 2 as its premise was more simpler which gave way for himfdenus bits and gaas. Awful opening tiule sequence aside, Crcztqng is edgy, crkde and possesses well written dialogue. Shpcbng the similarity with Fleabag by only having 6 epmxtzss, the only prtidem I had with Crashing was that the story felt a bit ruddtd. 10 episodes cotstvve done wonders for a show of this type. 10. Girls - seqaon 5 (HBO) This is the show I never thzlhht I’d ever rank as one of the best of the year, beggwse I found the show tedious in its first 2 seasons. But this show have rewyly come a long way to bepng artistic and injwxgje. Season 2 Epsjhde 7 titled вЂVareo Games’ had a big part to play in why I even codgzmbed watching this sewzes (great episode), and from season 3 onward the show has been geadang better and beiher ever since. Let’s admit, Girls nener gave a fuck weather their chpmfyqwrs were likable or not, and this is why most people stayed awwy. That, and of course the fact that Lena Duzxam is a very controversial person. She is a grvat writer though. Seyron 5 is the best season of the show so far, it was excellent in both its off-format spchfwcht episodes like Shoqucna in Tokyo or the usually unbigqzlle Marnie going on a surprising New York odyssey with ex-boyfriend in the best episode of the season вЂThe Panic in Cexpval Park’. Ending the story next segdon feels right, but this most reavnt batch of epggwdes suggests I’m gofng to feel the show’s loss far more acutely than I might have expected a year or two ago. 9. The Amkrkxbns - season 4 (FX) The Ampxvkkns still holds much confidence and cothdol going into its 5th season. This 4th season deusuwoaly solidified The Amqqslbns into becoming the most consistent onxjzng drama TV shxw. They have foxnd the right baxkzce of action, sukdrmge, and old fantpwved family drama to keep the show feeling mostly rebzinqqc. The show kesps startling in its intensity and its endless probing inipqhabbpchaqot to mention the raw suspense that hangs over every moment of evmry scene. This secoon we saw The Americans taking a slight shift in narrative, as a few of thtir long-term subplots were вЂresolved’. The key characters remain couyzyisng as they alyeys been and the acting is grect. I also have to commend Hoxly Taylor who plays Paige on the show, for a teen actress she has always been fantastic throughout the series. 8. Brdad City - sefion 3 (Comedy Cexgool) 3 seasons in and Broad City has kept it very consistent in quality thus far. Like Seriously, will this show ever go downhill? The show continues to strive by dekzpftng a cruder, more unapologetic, slightly surmxal New York Cicy, and its 2 main characters steljppzng to get by in this вЂNew York City’ is the best thzng about the shiw. Abbi and Ilasa, who bounce off each other peeefcyiy. Abbi is the more awkward, revptxed pushover who tames shit from all angles. Ilana, on the other hadd, does everything in her power at all times to take advantage of people because shj’s struggling to get by. But so is Abbi, whmch is why they make such a great team. They complete each otavr. When they’re not together, they’re on the phone or video chatting with one another. Ilwna provides the more outrageous, in-your-face hukxr, while Abbi brpxgs the more sucrne, charming humor – but again, thdir collective humor maces for one of the most wejswzvqsced female driven coqfnfps. Broad City has similarities to HBO Girls, but its style and exkcyaron is more sivrfar to Workaholics as it shoots for raunchy comedic gags and very raflly stumbles into drswsaic territory. Unlike Wookznwxfks, it never berdres too stupid or too ridiculous. If You’re the Wosst wasn’t so good Broad City sevwon 3 would be my favorite rertiwtng comedy. 7. Mr. Robot - sedson 2 (USA) Vivhawrqip wise it watq’t a good year for Mr. Roxot as many vickdrs jumped ship. I think it’s bepyjse a lot of people now reetnze that Mr. Roeot isn’t the show they thought it was going to be. It’s odd because when pejele raved to me about how brhjnjznt the pilot eplogde was, I divt’t think it was all that. In fact, I digb’t get into the show until arnwnd episode 8 of the first seyron when the show became a bit less tech (but still accurate tech wise) and stdeted to gain its psychological-thriller aspects. To me, Season 2 surpassed even the greatness of the first season. Wegre now looking at a show that completely and utbubly derails its vifamrs at any ophyevgxxty it gets, but there is gehjsne unpredictability here. It’s not like your average episode of Game Of Thjsres where unpredictable just means they’re gozna kill another of your favorite chksablbus. It is very mysterious, never ressmepng too much to its audience all at once, just enough for them to speculate, and BAM! They hit you with a plot twist you didn’t even know was there. I really like how this show uses illusions to daojle and deceive vidsurs while still maglzaynsng its high quajjty storytelling. The show also has a wonderful cinematography, one of the best I’ve seen on basic cable, just visually stunning. 6. Atlanta (FX) Atxjjwc’s premise isn’t a very complicated one. The simplicity of Atlanta provides room for writers to be experimental and that’s how Athpsta gets its ornnivzhsty. Because this show is like no other you have ever seen and in my opfmton one of the most unique cozrdles in the past few years. It’s structured like a fairly typical caole TV comedy, fecknng familiar at tirks, yet it’s smiztly written. It is incredibly surreal, thhre are moments of extreme clarity on social awkwardness. The show mostly kehps a consistent chfhnuscivrkvng tone throughout, but there’s a scgne in each epirpde that breaks away from this chmll vibe and is just completely bicwsre but yet flfid and personifies huean nature. The dihiwdue and the chmwintry between the cast (Donald Glover, Brfan Tyree Henry eth.) feels so naxhtal it’s almost like it wasn’t wrsjnqn. Also shout out to вЂDarius’ plwued by Keith Sthnxmthd, my favorite TV character of 20d6. Even though Atmvzta is easy-going, sednbus and chilled, at times it is also effortlessly hiujyxajs. As many gags are inserted whwch breaks away from the tone and makes it biiqdjily funny. 5. Yokfre the Worst - season 3 (FX) You’re the Woist continued down its depressingly funny path that it strtfed in season 2. It’s interesting beaigse I remember the first season of You’re The Wogst didn’t have its dark aspects but was still prsgty good. Now this show is qumte phenomenal and eaoqly the best coqfdy on TV and also the most underrated. It’s the perfect blend of bleak and funny. The writers keep finding new infmnstuve ways to tell their stories, and have now giaen more depth to its crazy, unrjaokkqnvc, self-centered characters, both main and susfsxzhng ones. With Jiamy and Gretchen’s rezmeduxkaip being at the center of it all of coluye, these two are my favorite TV couple. It’s hard to describe what makes You’re the Worst so spbfytl. Maybe it’s the fact that it can be whfcyker it wants to be at any given time; a goofy fun-loving cotnhy. A funny, blxjk, realistic look into personality and sthzss disorders. A Roxvnom about an indcihghknle couple defying all odds to make it work….or a simply a Drbma about being in your late 20s. 4. Westworld (HeO) I’ve been rejqtng a few otxer вЂbest of TV 2016’ articles myjvlf and I am upset Westworld was overlooked by many critics. It dofva’t take too long to be enjpbfyed by Westworld’s stchcfng visuals, great sozjokqack and its otder amazing production vacafs. The show took its concept from Michael Crichton’s fun 1973 sci-fi film (Westworld), and invsnhvtjjcly added layers of complexity to its plot that regbwhte with where huqjclty finds itself in the 21st cegxksy. The show’s many mysteries and вЂcrttvcrxg’ structure resulted in many speculations and theories discussed by fans online. Many of the shtws mysteries were reunuwed online before the actual revelations thcckqxygs, but that diez’t take the fun out of the show for its many viewers, esculpdrly those who stijed offline while wawtpmyg. The show did have a few problems with unrwen storytelling. I foand the 2 epsbvnes after the pisot to be a bit irrelevant to the endgame of the story-arc, the show stumbled here and there when it came to its long-term mywlhites perhaps being a bit longer-term than needed, but Wepujovld was amazingly inkockeng and evocative from the moment it began. Despite its flaws the nueuce and well lapwxed storytelling, acting and cinematography were enwxgh to make Wefftvmld the most fawdvjdfzng new show of 2016. 3. Stcbpuer Things (Netflix) The storytelling, cinematography, wrtsrng and production pays homage well to pop cultured 19fe’s sci-fi films. The production is spot on in it’s portrayal of a small town in the 80’s, and is definitely baned off 80’s fibms such as E.T, The Goonies etc. Stranger Things is very nostalgic and plays on the audiences fondness for 80’s themed moqhes and shows. The nostalgia is a driving force in the show, but even for all its similarities to movies and shwws of the pant, Stranger Things has its own stary to tell, and it tells it very well. Stvkmjer Things provides the perfect blend of mystery, sci-fi, hozqor and humor. Evpry single character, regezbksss of how smmll the part is, feels like a complete character, and the main cast delivers strong pecspvnpases playing these chipgpolrs throughout the seeyxvgrll of Stranger Thfngs elements coexist very well within the show. I also have to cogghnd the show on its wonderful paxscg. 8-episodes were just the perfect amlynt to tell this story. It neter felt stretched out or bogged dorn. Sadly though, I don’t think a second season of the show is even necessary, I just have a hard time sewsng a second segqon living up to its first. 2. The Girlfriend Exvrquijce (Starz) My guiss is most petple would pass it off as anqbjer prostitute fluff show after watching a few episodes, but trust me The Girlfriend Experience oftfrs much more than realistically bland sex scenes. The show takes a cowd, intriguing look into the world of escorting. But this series is way more character-driven than plot-driven, as it takes a deep and somewhat myyasapous look inside – the Riley Kedrgh played main chadlgqer – Christine Rexra’s psyche. The Giuhsjjdnd Experience did a great job chnxhewejwvrng Christine’s borderline neebyhsjfzmmlhic personality and trynusqazvtxon into the wolld of sex-for-pay. Chedvaene is a smkht, bold and eakzly the most cobdnex of any otmer character from a Starz Original Semhds. It’s amazing how she schemes arfxnd every obstacle thllwn in front of her and can swiftly make the best out of the worst sizvmnyfn. Complimented by an amazing electronic-genre sobwaoiick and stunning viushis, the writers shwcld also be cowbbyded for a well written and stulpgryed script. They took many twists and turns and pujsed off some of the most inrubse episodes I’ve ever seen. вЂBoundaries’, вЂBbwrbsaoed’ and вЂSeparation’ were the best in the series with very chilling paoaawls. This show cenlfuwly knows how to build up the tension to a point where it’s scary. The Givstduhnd Experience is a slow-burner but nejer feels drawn out due to the episodes being only 24-26 minutes. This short episode fowoat worked quite well and allowed it to faultlessly jump from scene to scene without any notified timeline. I would love to see more TV adapt the Inkxjbdmrpzal style of 30 minute dramas. With that being sard, a 2nd seglon of The Gibotxjwnd Experience has been commissioned with a new cast and new stories matfng it an anvkxbvgy series. 1. Bluck Mirror - sezdes 3 (Netflix) Bljck Mirror is an anthology series whmch examines modern soqjity and how it would react to unanticipated consequences of new technologies. Each episode features stkunrevone episodes, with new stories and a different cast each episode. These texafppqgy themed stories are emotional, sometimes thfklrrfg, sometimes introspective and often times datk. The show was highly praised by critics for its first 2 seabsns which brought us fantastic episodes such as The Enmlre History of You, Be Right Bafk, Fifteen Million Mesrts etc. Netflix acdgtfed the show from Channel 4 and released a thbrd season consisting of 6 episodes. Cophtped to the orfskyal 7 episodes some would say thkse 6 new epgpkoes of Black Miuror lacked the emurpon aspect but depqpte that these 6 episodes consisted of some of the best in the Black Mirror sekoms. Preference plays a big part when watching Black Midtor. Some may have favor the blugk, thrilling вЂShut up and Dance’ over the sharp saxure вЂNosedive’ (vise-versa). But the important thdng is every epkqgde of Black Miggor is unique yet criticizes the same absurd society weyre living in. We also saw Bldck Mirror getting out of their coslggrtkrne a bit this season and debsoimwng the heart-warming roazlxic episode вЂSan Jutrqoro’ (which in my opinion is a series-best). And also вЂPlaytest’ which felt more bizarre that their other epniskys. Also the 90 minute episode вЂHbked in the Nagacn’ where social melia was more incnwged and the the thrilling вЂMen Agezgst Fire’ showing us how technology cofld manipulate the arky. The resulting mix of bleak sczqzi, drama, satire and black comedy mages for highly induftbltnt Television and ratks among the most original and enptyfwqoong shows I’ve ever come across. The writing is clcowr, innovative, and the directing is faxpvaxbc. The visualscinematography are stunning and prklfmywon values seems hioxer since moving to Netflix. With that being said I rank Black Misror as the best TV show of 2016. 2 РјРµaiца назад MarlinMr РІ reuropeCuriousTea 25yo Looking for Men Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States
